until between

until between is an ongoing commissioning, performance and recording project exploring questions of identity, belonging and voice through newly commissioned works for solo violin. Working in close collaboration with composers and artists from different backgrounds, the project asks how sound can express the spaces we inhabit between cultures, languages, bodies and histories. Each commission approaches these questions from a distinct perspective while contributing to a growing body of repertoire that is presented in performance, recording and writing.

What began as a conversation about “home” gradually evolved into something much more: a project stretching from our own individual identities to questions around borders and rights to homeland. Our sense of place and self never is as fixed as it seems, but always shifting, shaped by memory, history, and transformation. The title until between captures this state of in-betweenness: neither entirely anchored nor rootless, but constantly moving through spaces of identity, memory and language.

The project launched with three commissions by Aaron Holloway-Nahum, Ashkan Behzadi in collaboration with poet Taher Adel, as well as my own work, culminating in the 2025 album until between. Rather than a finished statement, these works established the foundations of a continuing artistic inquiry, each approaching shared themes from a distinct personal and aesthetic perspective.

As the project evolves, new commissions, performances, recordings and writings expand this conversation in unexpected directions. While each work stands independently, together they form a growing body of work connected by a commitment to collaboration, curiosity and the search for individual and collective voice.
