About the event

The sounds of the modern Arctic are explored in two astonishing new works, created as part of Durham University’s Exploring Arctic Soundscapes project. Renowned sound-artist Jana Winderen presents U N D E R C U R R E N T, based on her hydrophone recordings from the Bleik Djupet, by Andøya, Norway. In Eric Skytterholm Egan’s Ábifruvvá,  violinists Marie Schreer and John Garner sound the hidden narratives  and cultural conflicts resulting from the societal expansion and  encroachment on nature in the region.
